Abandoned Newborn Found in Paro's Khangkhu Area

In a heart-wrenching incident, an abandoned newborn baby was discovered by a 23-year-old man in the Khangkhu area of Paro. The discovery took place on the night of August 26th, when the young man heard the desperate cries of the baby as he was about to sleep. Prompted by his instinct, he rushed to investigate and was shocked to find a baby wrapped in a worn-out blanket near his house. The man, a nursing graduate, noticed that the baby was cold and that the umbilical cord had not been cut properly. Concerned for the baby's well-being, he immediately contacted the local authorities, who swiftly arrived at the scene. The baby was then taken to the hospital for a thorough medical examination, which thankfully revealed that the infant was in good health. The hospital staff also administered the baby's first immunization. Moved by compassion, the man and his parents made the decision to keep the abandoned baby as their own. Three Arrested in Thimphu for Biggest Drug Seizure in Recent History

On 30th August 2023, the Narcotic Drugs and Law Enforcement Unit made a significant breakthrough in their ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking. Two men and a woman, aged between 26 to 29 years, were apprehended for their involvement in the illicit trafficking of drugs from Yoeselpang, Thimphu. The operation unfolded when the enforcement team intercepted a Bolero pickup truck at the Yoeselpang vegetable shed. Inside the vehicle were the driver and a woman, arousing suspicion among the officers. Acting on their instincts, a search was conducted at their residence, leading to the discovery of two cartoon boxes (equivalent to 21 packets) containing SP+ capsules hidden beneath the wooden floor. Additionally, 14 packages of SP+ were found neatly wrapped in a bedsheet inside a red laundry basket. The total quantity of SP+ (Tramadol) capsules seized amounted to a staggering 39,011, making it the largest drug seizure to date. Further developments in the case led to the arrest of
