Shortage of Healthcare Facilities in Thimphu Sparks Rise in Unauthorized Private Clinics

The shortage of healthcare facilities in public healthcare centers or hospitals has become a pressing concern that demands immediate attention. In response to this shortage, unauthorized private healthcare clinics and dental clinics have emerged in Thimphu. 
The Ministry of Health acknowledges the significance of accessible and affordable healthcare for all citizens and is actively working to address this issue by increasing the number of public healthcare facilities.

The limited budget allocated to the healthcare sector is one of the key reasons behind the shortage of healthcare facilities in Thimphu. The government faces numerous challenges in allocating funds for healthcare infrastructure, staff training, and medical equipment. Consequently, the existing public healthcare centers and hospitals are struggling to meet the rising demand for healthcare services.

In addition to the budget constraints, the shortage of healthcare professionals exacerbates the situation. With a limited number of doctors, nurses, and other medical staff available, the existing healthcare facilities are unable to provide adequate healthcare services to all residents. This shortage not only affects the quality of care but also leads to longer waiting times for patients seeking medical attention.

The emergence of unauthorized private healthcare clinics and dental clinics in Thimphu can be seen as a direct consequence of the scarcity of public healthcare facilities. While these private clinics may provide an alternative for those in need of immediate medical assistance, their unregulated nature raises concerns about the quality and affordability of the services offered.

Our Department of first year electrical of Jigme Namgyel Engineering College   organized a picnic on April 22, 2018 . The rekhay  bus, fully packed with students headed for rekhay. we were extremely excited to reach the destination. All the students kept singing songs in the bus till they reached the venue.  As the student reach the place student were served with Tea and biscuits by class representative Thinley Norbu and few other students who reached the placed a day before. All the students were divided work among them so it took no longer than an hour or two for cooking all the items. All the cooking was done all together lead by the Thinley Wangchuk as head cook.  The cooking was all over and we gather to celebrate the moment and make it remarkable.
