Three Arrested in Thimphu for Biggest Drug Seizure in Recent History
On 30th August 2023, the Narcotic Drugs and Law Enforcement Unit made a significant breakthrough in their ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking. Two men and a woman, aged between 26 to 29 years, were apprehended for their involvement in the illicit trafficking of drugs from Yoeselpang, Thimphu. The operation unfolded when the enforcement team intercepted a Bolero pickup truck at the Yoeselpang vegetable shed. Inside the vehicle were the driver and a woman, arousing suspicion among the officers. Acting on their instincts, a search was conducted at their residence, leading to the discovery of two cartoon boxes (equivalent to 21 packets) containing SP+ capsules hidden beneath the wooden floor. Additionally, 14 packages of SP+ were found neatly wrapped in a bedsheet inside a red laundry basket.
