On 30th August 2023, the Narcotic Drugs and Law Enforcement Unit made a significant breakthrough in their ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking. Two men and a woman, aged between 26 to 29 years, were apprehended for their involvement in the illicit trafficking of drugs from Yoeselpang, Thimphu. The operation unfolded when the enforcement team intercepted a Bolero pickup truck at the Yoeselpang vegetable shed. Acting on their instincts, a search was conducted at their residence, leading to the discovery of two cartoon boxes (equivalent to 21 packets) containing SP+ capsules hidden beneath the wooden floor. Police in Trashigang successfully captured the suspect accused of raping a 13-year-old minor in Ritshangdung, Kanglung on August 14, at approximately 10 pm. The victim, a physically challenged child suffering from epilepsy, was assaulted by a 28-year-old man who had entered her home. In a recent report, it has been revealed that the civil service sector has witnessed a substantial departure of over 3,000 employees. This includes approximately 1,500 individuals on contract, shedding light on the challenges faced by the government in retaining skilled personnel.
